The co-operation between EAT and DITEX/MORRIS

DITEX (www.ditexmorris.com) was founded in 1962 by Tecla Sala and Giovanni Cazzaniga in Bulciago, Italy as a textile studio.
Early in the company?s history, the main task of the studio was drawing point paper designs and turning them into Vincenci cards (cardboard). From 1975 on, the manual reading of the point paper designs was mechanized (Meltex punched tapes) and was also carried out in Verdol (endless paper tapes). In 1981, Mr. Cazzaniga?s daughter Maria founded the MORRIS design studio. In 1988, the first DesignScope CAD system was installed and later five more were added between the starting date and 1999.
Since ITMA 1999 in Paris, where EAT first introduced DesignScope® victor, DITEX/MORRIS has become an important companion of the ongoing development of the software.
In 2003, all systems were upgraded with the new generation software of DesignScope® victor. Three new systems were added soon after. At the same time, EAT's database system DesignBase victor had been installed for the administration and archival of existing and future files for designs, weaves etc.
Now, almost a year after exclusively working with the new systems, Maria Cazzaniga smiles when telling us about the improvement in her workflow and the increase of productivity to her everyday working environment. For her it is hard to remember how she worked 1 to 2 years ago, when features like Running Chain, 3D Weave, Simulation and DesignBase were not available to her.
Being the creative and technological head of the company, Maria Cazzaniga is now capable of realistically simulating and displaying highly complex woven fabric creations. Using the Running Chain and DesignBase features, she has created an unrivaled way of communicating with her customers. Her DesignBase today features more than 20,500 design entries of all kinds in different categories. All designs created are now being stored with the automatic Running Chain. This chain saves all the information from the design?s creation process, including images, weaves, production parameters, the JC file and, if desired, a simulation - all under one filename.
"DesignScope® victor is much more than just a CAD/CAM system" Maria Cazzaniga concludes.
DITEX/MORRIS now has 13 employees in two different locations in Italy. About 70 % of their turnover is generated in Italy and 30 % comes from abroad. Their major international markets are India, Turkey and Tunisia. They specialize in design and quality development for upholstery and curtain fabrics.
EAT would like to thank Maria Cazzaniga and her team for their enduring trust and great cooperation over the last 15 years.
